He had a talent with music thats very rare. He could perform, write his own music and had the gift to play music. Theres something so magical about some of his songs that no matter what mood your in you feel you could listen for hours. Theres such a variety to his music and many songs that are less played such as " "Your'e the one" "Love Is Strange" . Its sad in many respects because we will all wonder about the music he could of made if he had lived. I hold him very close to my heart. He was exceptional in every way . I reckon I still play Words of Love on my guitar practically every day . What more can I say. The man was a genius. That area was named the Buddy Holly Recreation Area (as opposedto BH Park) -- and for years was marked only with a wooden sign. My understand is that the city stopped replacing the sign because each one was stolen. I'm not certain why it was/is not advertised; perhaps some within the city are not even aware the area has a name. Indeed, the story I was told indiates that the name was rushed into existence about the time "The Buddy Holly Story" movie was released; people with the film asked where they could meet that had been named after Holly, and city fathers realized there was nothing in all of Lubbock. I realize we do not have control of this, just always wondered what happened to the joy of Buddy Hollow park?
