Lubbock Combo On Network Show Next Sunday
Four Lubbock youths who have scored a success in the recording and personal appearance field with their music will hit the nationwide audience on Sunday, Dec. 1, when the Crickets are slated to appear on the Ed Sullivan Show.

The boys, ranging in ages from 18 to 21, are former students of Tom S. Lubbock High School and won plaudits for their record 'That'll Be The Day' and have a new tune on the rise, 'Oh Boy!'and an album set for release Dec. 1, 'The Chirping Of The Crickets' [sic].

Managed by Norman Petty, The Crickets have just completed a tour of the East and West Coasts and Canada in the show, 'The Biggest Show Of Stars Of '57,' headed by Fats Domino. They compose their own music and do their own playing without stage orchestra assistance.

The Crickets are composed of Buddy Holly, vocalist, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. 0. Holly, 1305 37th St.; Jerry Allison, drummer, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Allison, 2215 6th St.; Niki Sullivan guitarist, son of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Sullivan, 3102 44th St.; and Joe B. Mauldin, bass viol, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Mulcahy, 2401 25th St.

Jerry and Buddy have been together for three years. Jerry graduating from Tom S. Lubbock in 1956 and Buddy in 1955. The other boys attended school here.
